In December 2019 KAVI launched a free-to-watch streaming service for Finnish feature films. The new streaming platform was built on top of a web service offering filmographic data on films. The content was based on the 12-part Finnish National Filmography book series. Combining complete filmographic data with very high quality streaming results (most of it in 4K Ultra HD) is an exceptional achievement.
Elonet service opened with 250 Finnish feature films and ca. 2 000 short films and newsreels, available for streaming around the world. Filmographic data is available for 63 000 feature films and 69 000 other films. The service also contains ca. 40 000 still photographs & posters. So far the service has been a huge success: during the first month alone 1.5 million streams were started by 600 000 unique visitors.
