The task of the public officials of the audiovisual programme team of the Department for Media Education and Audiovisual Media (MEKU) is to develop a media environment that is safe for children in cooperation with the other authorities and organisations in the sector. 

The audiovisual programme team supervises compliance with the age limits and the Act on Audiovisual Programmes as a whole. The classification of audiovisual programmes is the responsibility of the independent audiovisual programme classifiers trained by the Institute.

MEKU supervises the work of the audiovisual programme classifiers and welcomes feedback on age limit classifications. The audiovisual programme team also classifies the audiovisual programmes shown in the Kino Regina of the National Audiovisual Institute.

Leo is the deputy director of the National Audiovisual Institute and heads the Department for Media Education and Audiovisual Media. He is responsible for all statutory tasks specified in the Act on Audiovisual Programmes in Finland as well as for media education matters.

Leena is responsible for supervising and training classifiers and for audiovisual programme classification. When the deputy director of MEKU is prevented from performing his tasks, she manages his duties specified in the Act on Audiovisual Programmes.

Hanna works as a part-time senior advisor in the audiovisual programme team and she can be contacted on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Hanna is responsible for supervising and training classifiers and for audiovisual programme classification. She is a member of the PEGI Complaints Board and coordinates the annual classifier meetings.

Nelli works as a senior advisor in the audiovisual programme team. Her tasks include supervision of classifiers, audiovisual programme classification, classifier training and producing video material for training. She also acts as the coordinator of classifier training.

Jarno is responsible for supervising and training classifiers and for audiovisual programme classification. He coordinates the refresher training of classifiers.

Milja is responsible for the invoicing of the team and her tasks also include financial administration duties in the National Audiovisual Institute and duties concerning the supervision of audiovisual programme provision.

Ville is responsible for the department’s information systems and he also participates in the development of the Institute’s information management. His duties include maintenance and development of the IKLU classification system and registers as well as user advice and training. As the immediate team supervisor, he also participates in the supervision of audiovisual programme provision and is responsible for processing the rectification requests concerning classifications.

Jarno’s tasks include the matters concerning viewing technology (such as matters concerning file transfer, viewing formats and other technical matters) and other ICT matters of the National Audiovisual Institute. He also participates in the maintenance and development of the IKLU classification system and registers as well as user advice and guidance.

Erika is responsible for the supervision of audiovisual programme provision and she acts as a legal expert in the statutory administrative tasks of MEKU, such as preparing requests for information, processing and presenting applications for authorisations for showing audiovisual programmes and processing rectification requests concerning the supervision of audiovisual programme provision. Erika’s tasks also include classification and training duties and she serves as the data protection officer of the National Audiovisual Institute.
